A leading manufacturer of carbon cathodes, sidewalls and ramming paste for the aluminium smelting sector goes into liquidation.
Overview
The specialist manufacturer entered administration in February 2024 after external factors, including pressures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, severely impacted the aluminium smelting industry, leaving the business unable to continue trading due to its financial position.
Our Objectives
In March 2024, NCM Auctions was appointed to quickly auction off and clear the entire contents of the carbon cathode block manufacturing site, including production lines, conveyors, forklifts, generators, buildings, compressors, racking, laboratory equipment, workshop tools, stock and much more. The entire site went under the hammer in our exclusive LIVE liquidation auction.
NCM’s objectives were to quickly complete the project and generate maximum revenue for the site through a live and online hybrid auction.
Assets
The specialist machinery comprised a Hensel Industrial Overhead Saw, Carbon Cathode Block Butler Presses, a Wassmer Machining Centre, and a Stirk Industrial Dry Grinding Line.
Results
By early April, the site had been auctioned; by the end of April, it had been completely cleared. The auction generated nearly £150k in revenue and diverted substantial waste from being sent to landfill. Among the successful winning bidders were local refractories, tradesmen, reclamation companies, engineering firms, and many others benefiting from the auction. Some machinery was purchased by international bidders and exported overseas to the Czech Republic and Ireland.
