Case Study
Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley
Clearing a century’s worth of high-value hotel assets from a Heathrow storage facility.
The challenge
Claridge’s, owned and managed by Maybourne Hotel Group, needed to clear its Heathrow storage warehouse, which contained over a century of high-value designer items. The brief was to catalogue, clear and sell thousands of assets efficiently, sustainably and profitably.
The approach
We identified 3,000+ saleable assets, including antique furniture and hand-painted ceramics by designers such as David Linley, David Collins, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Pierre Paulin. We photographed and catalogued over 15,000 images across 420 working hours and launched a global marketing campaign spanning social media, email, Google Ads and auction platforms.
The result
- 9-day auction series with 5 live events
- Cleared 15,000 sqft of storage
- Re-homed a significant portion of assets
- Engaged 1,500+ private bidders and 300+ businesses/charities
- Marketing campaign reached 3.5 million people across 80+ countries
- Maximised returns while avoiding landfill disposal
The impact
Over 200 tonnes of assets were diverted from landfill, supporting local SMEs, charities, and international collectors. This project demonstrated tangible environmental, social, and economic benefits while unlocking substantial capital for Maybourne.
From the outset, the NCM team demonstrated their professionalism and commitment to our project. They were passionate, proactive and had an experienced team in place with the expertise to deliver a seamless auction process from beginning to end. NCM were agile and creative, which allowed them to generate extensive interest for the auctions in a way that aligned with our brand and values.”
