Contents of Hotpoint UKs Former Bristol Factory up for Auction with NCM

3 min read

Production lines and machinery from Hotpoint UK’s (part of Beko Europe) recently closed factory in Bristol are going up for auction with NCM Auctions. The sale offers a rare opportunity to acquire specialist equipment from one of Europe’s leading home appliance manufacturers.

The Station Road facility in Yate, Bristol, carries over a century of rich industrial heritage. Originally established during World War I as an aircraft manufacturing and repair plant for Parnell, the site has been a cornerstone of British manufacturing history.

Through the decades, it has evolved and adapted, ultimately becoming a key manufacturing hub for Hotpoint UK under Beko Group’s ownership until its closure at the end of 2024.

Specialist Equipment for Auction

The online auction includes a wide range of equipment and ancillaries used at the tumble dryer manufacturing site, including:

  • Hydraulic presses
  • Metalworking lathes and milling machines
  • Precision measuring equipment
  • Foil shrink wrapping lines
  • Commercial catering equipment
  • Plus many other high-value items essential to the white goods manufacturing industry

Amy Rutherford, partnership lead at NCM, commented: “This auction from Hotpoint UK reinforces our expertise in repurposing industrial equipment from large manufacturing sites and factories.

“Our proven approach and commitment to sustainability ensures that these surplus manufacturing assets are reintegrated into the circular economy and diverted from landfill.

“Given the Yate facility’s substantial scale, this catalogue offers an extensive range of manufacturing equipment and related assets that can be used across many different industries and manufacturing processes.

“I’d encourage any interested bidders to register for the auction and arrange a viewing with our team.”

The Yate factory auction is live now, and bidding ends from 11am on Wednesday 5th March.

Private treaty offers are also being considered. Interested parties or those wishing to arrange viewings can contact NCM at 01302 898260 or email us for more information.

Turning Used Gym Equipment into a Rock Solid Revenue Stream

News

Turning Used Gym Equipment into a Rock Solid Revenue Stream

3 min read

Smart gym operators are uncovering a better way to upgrade and improve their facilities and transforming the disposal of their used fitness equipment into a profitable and repeatable revenue stream. With our approach, gyms reclaim substantially more value from their used equipment.

Out with the old, in with the new

While traditional disposal methods are tried and tested, they’re also tired. Our approach, finding the right buyer for the right equipment, helps gyms recover three to four times more for their surplus assets. This approach offsets the costs of purchasing new gym equipment and generates immediate cash flow for investing in upgrades and refurbishments.

Real-life success

The Everlast Gym’s Elevation program perfectly demonstrates the benefits. By partnering with NCM, the Everlast team has cleared redundant equipment across multiple UK locations while generating additional revenue to support their ambitious upgrade and refurbishment strategy.

The future of gym equipment management is more than just disposal. Our complete approach transforms obsolete or excess fitness assets into strategic and financial opportunities for your business.

Multiple channels to maximise return

Gym chains can maximise returns through our approach, from smaller fitness clubs and home gym enthusiasts to repair and refurbishment specialists. We’ve created a diverse secondary market. Combined with the strategic timing of sales during refurbishment programs, we ensure optimal value recovery with minimal impact on day-to-day operations and your members.

More than money

Beyond the direct financial gains, the NCM approach delivers strategic advantages. Gym chains enhance their sustainability credentials while gaining competitive differentiation in an environmentally conscious market. Reducing waste and repurposing used gym equipment creates a win-win situation for everyone involved.

The UK fitness industry increasingly recognises that profitability and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand. By promoting a circular economy, gyms transform equipment disposal from a cost burden into a strategic asset management opportunity.

Ready to boost your revenue?

Transform your gym equipment’s earning potential with NCM. Our asset experts will help you transform costly equipment upgrades into financial and environmental opportunities.

Our team is standing by, ready to develop a tailored disposal strategy that maximises revenue, hits your deadlines and supports a more sustainable approach. Contact our auction experts at 01302 898260 or drop us an email here.

From Crisis to Clearance: A Successful Industrial Auction Case Study

News

From Crisis to Clearance: A Successful Industrial Auction Case Study

3 min read

Overview

The manufacturing sector has faced unprecedented challenges in recent years. When a local specialist carbon cathode block manufacturer succumbed to these pressures in early 2024, their story demonstrated how efficient asset liquidation can create value even in challenging circumstances.

The Fall of a Specialist Manufacturer

February 2024 marked the end of an era as Bawtry Carbon entered administration. The perfect storm of COVID-19’s lingering effects and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict dealt severe blows to the aluminium smelting industry. These external pressures proved insurmountable, forcing the business to cease operations.

Swift Action in Crisis

Enter NCM Auctions, who took charge of the situation in March 2024. Their mission was clear: to auction and clear the entire contents of the manufacturing site efficiently. The scope was extensive, encompassing everything from sophisticated production lines to essential workshop tools.

The auction would be conducted through an innovative hybrid approach, combining live and online bidding to maximise participation and value.

Industrial Heritage Under the Hammer

The site housed impressive specialist machinery, including:

  • A sophisticated Hensel industrial overhead saw
  • Carbon cathode block butler presses
  • A state-of-the-art Wassmer machining centre
  • A Stirk industrial dry grinding line

A Success Story in Numbers and Impact

The results speak volumes about the auction’s success. Within just two months, from early to late April, the entire site was not only sold but completely cleared. The auction generated an impressive revenue of nearly £150,000, but perhaps more importantly, it prevented significant amounts of industrial equipment from ending up in landfills.

The auction attracted a diverse group of buyers. Local refractories, tradesmen, reclamation companies, and engineering firms all found value in the available assets. The appeal extended beyond national borders, with some machinery finding new homes in the Czech Republic and Ireland.

This case demonstrates how professional asset disposal can turn a challenging situation into an opportunity that benefits multiple stakeholders while supporting sustainable business practices.

Why choose NCM?

As a trusted partner in industrial auctions and asset recovery, NCM’s service covers:

  • Expertise in managing large-scale industrial site clearances
  • Proven success in maximising asset value through auctions
  • Commitment to sustainability and community support

Allow NCM to alleviate the hassle of asset and site clearances while achieving exceptional results customised to your requirements. Please contact us at 01302 898260 to discuss how we can assist you.

Saint-Gobain Drives Sustainability with Holwell Foundry Asset Clearance

3 min read

Overview

Saint-Gobain PAM UK has appointed NCM to manage the complete clearance of its Holwell Works Foundry facility in Melton Mowbray. NCM will also oversee the asset recovery of the entire foundry complex.

A Legacy of Industry and Sustainability

The Holwell foundry was established in the 1870s and has been a significant part of Melton Mowbray’s industrial heritage for over 150 years thanks to its success in manufacturing access covers and gully gratings for the road, water and utility industries. Despite its achievements, the site’s closure follows a production transfer to their Saint-Gobain PAM sister facility at Blénod, France – a move that will halve PAM UK’s road ironwork carbon emissions and help their customers reach their net zero ambitions.

Under this landmark contract, NCM Auctions will oversee:

  • Complete site clearance with adherence to environmental and safety standards
  • Optimised asset recovery through a strategic online auction

Amy Rutherford, Partnership Lead at NCM Auctions, commented:

“This partnership with Saint-Gobain PAM highlights our expertise in industrial site clearances. By focusing on sustainability, we not only recover asset value but also contribute to the circular economy, benefiting local communities and businesses.”

Specialist Equipment for Auction

The online auction will feature an extensive selection of specialist industrial machinery and equipment, including:

  • Overhead cranes and weigh-bridges
  • Lathes and milling machines
  • Compressors, conveyors and racking
  • Many other high-value items essential to the foundry industry

Businesses of all sizes are encouraged to participate in this unique opportunity to acquire high-quality industrial equipment while supporting a sustainable initiative.

Commitment to Sustainability

Saint-Gobain PAM’s sustainable approach underscores their dedication to environmental responsibility. By recycling and auctioning their assets, they reduce landfill waste and empower small businesses and charities with affordable access to valuable resources.

Why choose NCM?

As a trusted partner in industrial auctions and asset recovery, NCM’s service covers:

  • Expertise in managing large-scale industrial site clearances.
  • Proven success in maximising asset value through auctions.
  • Commitment to sustainability and community support.
