Asset Circular Economy at the College of North West London

We are delighted to be working at the College of North West London, part of United Colleges Group for a second time to manage the sustainably focused sale of second-hand college equipment on their behalf.

This is the second time we have worked at the College of North West London and the third time we have been appointed by United Colleges Group within the last 12 months following huge success on our previous auctions.

There are 30 large lots in the catalogue for the latest auction, which can be VIEWED NOW

Take a look at some of the catalogue for sale below.

Working with Colleges, Schools and Universities

We help our education clients raise money by selling their surplus equipment via commercial auctions, lowering their clearance fees and enabling the circular economy of assets in the process.

Every college, school and university has surplus equipment and machinery be it from a merger, refurbishment, department closure, curriculum change or a build-up in storage over the years. We have been helping colleges and universities clear valuable space, lower clearance fees, hit their sustainability objectives and most importantly – generate unexpected revenue, quickly…for over a decade.

We work on projects with a wide range of size and values; whether it’s a few high value redundant assets from a department, an entire building or large-scale multi-site clearance. The usual range of income generated for education partners is £25,000 to £150,000 per auction.

Popular departments and assets sold by our education partners include:

  • > Catering & Kitchen equipment
  • > Engineering
  • > Gym & Fitness
  • > Motor vehicles
  • > Woodwork
  • > Construction
  • > Welding
  • > Broadcast & Media
  • > Technical equipment
  • > Entire clearances

How we help organisations with the Asset Circular Economy

According to Wikipedia, a circular economy is “a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible”.

We love a bit of that!

It’s great for the environment, large organisations, SMEs and charities because there are millions of great condition equipment and assets in the world that are sitting there waiting to be reused. We work with organisations of all sizes to sell their surplus equipment and assets to SMEs and charities via online auction, producing ‘Good News’ stories, hitting sustainability objectives and making a profit in the process.

Case Study | Twitter UK

As part of a refurbishment of their UK headquarters, tech giant Twitter engaged our services to manage the sustainable reuse of surplus office furniture, catering appliances and equipment from their Soho offices. A range of SMEs and charities benefitted from this auction, purchasing excellent quality items at great value prices.

Case Study | Newton Rigg College

Askham Bryan College announced plans to close the Newton Rigg site at Penrith in 2020. We were engaged to undertake a total site clearance of the college campus, a large site with multiple departments. Assets included farming and agricultural equipment, engineering machinery, commercial vehicles, ground care tools and general college equipment. Over £300,000 was raised at auction, with over 95% of the purchases made by SMEs, community projects and charities.

How does it work?

We do it for you! Once we’ve worked together to agree an equipment and asset list to sell, we do the rest. We have an experienced in-house team that runs hundreds of auctions every year, so you can leave the project with us and we’ll keep you updated along the way. From valuations to lotting, marketing, collecting payments and organising collections, we’ve got it covered.

Sharing CSR & ESG ‘Good News’ Reuse Stories

At the end of each auction we produce a Project Summary Report for our clients. This document can be shared with internal stakeholders and includes an overview of the project, some auction insights, revenue raised, sustainability achievements and we also collect some buyer stories along the way.

Stuart from Grasmere Farm purchased a cold display counter from our auction at the College of North West London for use at Farmers Markets and County Shows.

Full story

Steve from YMCA Lakeside in the Lake District purchased two van loads of accommodation furniture from our Newton Rigg College auction and was happy to share his story with us to promote the reuse of equipment and assets.

That’s how we do it…

Well, there’s a bit more to it than that but we want to keep the word count down! The Circular Economy is a beautiful thing and we are proud to work in an industry that helps play a part in enabling the reuse of equipment and assets every single day. If your organisation would like to learn more about how we can work for you in this regard, just drop us a message and we’ll book in a 30 minute virtual presentation to explain how it works.

Selling Second Hand Equipment in Storage

Selling Second Hand Equipment in Storage

3 min read

We work with organisations of all sizes to sell large quantities of their second hand equipment, products and machinery (often in storage or due to relocations and upgrades) to other businesses via online auction. When we say we help you, what we mean is we do it for you.

  • We make you bottom line income
  • We negate future clearance costs
  • We help you hit your reuse/sustainability goals
  • We do it for you

The majority of our current clients didn’t know a service like ours, where we do 95% of the work even existed. They simply didn’t have the time or labour to sort through everything to sell themselves and didn’t have a platform available to sell it easily in large quantities.

At NCM Auctions, we do.

The 5% we need from our clients is letting us into your business or organisation for a quick walk round to establish the items you would like to sell. From there, we do the rest. From lotting and cataloguing to marketing, running the auction, collecting payments and managing the collections process, we’ve got it covered.

Here are some of the clients we’ve sold equipment on behalf of…

How does it work?

Once we’ve worked together to agree an equipment list to sell, we do the rest. We have an experienced in-house team that run hundreds of auctions every year, so you can leave the project with us and we’ll keep you updated along the way.

How Much Money Do We Generate?

The majority of our auctions raise between £15,000 and £100,000 but we have multiple examples where we have generated between £100,000 and £500,000 for clients with large quantities of highly valuable assets to sell.

Asset Circular Economy at Northumberland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form

We are delighted to have been appointed by Northumberland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form, part of Education Partnership North East, to manage the sustainably focused reuse and sale of second-hand college equipment on their behalf.

From our first contact with the group facilities team through to presenting to the decision committee, the focus from everyone was on making sure we maximise the reuse and continuous life cycles of all college assets that are no longer needed, giving them a new life with SMEs, charities and social enterprises within the local area.

The outcome of this sustainable approach comes with the benefits of achieving some income generation, freeing up storage space and reducing current and future clearance costs.

The 167 lots for auction include catering equipment, media equipment and engineering machinery, plus much more. The auction bidding ends on 20th October 2022 and the catalogue is live and can be VIEWED NOW

Take a look at some of the catalogue for sale below.
