The Circular Economy
According to Wikipedia, a circular economy is “a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible”.
We love a bit of that!
It’s great for the environment, large organisations, SMEs and charities because there’s millions of great condition equipment and assets in the world that are sitting there waiting to be reused. We work with organisations of all sizes to sell their surplus equipment and assets to SMEs and charities via online auction, producing ‘Good News’ stories, hitting sustainability objectives and making a profit in the process.
Case Study | Twitter UK
As part of a refurbishment of their UK headquarters, tech giant Twitter engaged our services to manage the sustainable reuse of surplus office furniture, catering appliances and equipment from their Soho offices. A range of SMEs and charities benefitted from this auction, purchasing excellent quality items at great value prices.
Case Study | Newton Rigg College
Askham Bryan College announced plans to close the Newton Rigg site at Penrith in 2020. We were engaged to undertake a total site clearance of the college campus, a large site with multiple departments. Assets included farming and agricultural equipment, engineering machinery, commercial vehicles, ground care tools and general college equipment. Over £300,000 was raised at auction, with over 95% of the purchases made by SMEs, community projects and charities.
Case Study | Dreamland Margate
What a venue! An ongoing project with collections being completed next week, Dreamland Margate engaged our services to sustainably reuse a collection of Airstreams, catering vans and commercial catering equipment.
Case Study | Frenchgate Shopping Centre
Frenchgate Shopping Centre, based in Doncaster, needed a large retail unit clearing of its assets at short notice. The former Debenhams store held many valuable retail assets and equipment. The assets included catering, retail and restaurant equipment and furniture. In the final weeks before the clearance deadline, NCM Auctions was recommended as a sustainable auction partner for the project by a previous client within Doncaster Council. Over 400 assets were sold to and reused by SMEs.
How does it work?
We do it for you! Once we’ve worked together to agree an equipment and asset list to sell, we do the rest. We have an experienced in-house team that runs hundreds of auctions every year, so you can leave the project with us and we’ll keep you updated along the way. From valuations to lotting, marketing, collecting payments and organising collections, we’ve got it covered.
Sharing CSR & ESG ‘Good News’ Reuse Stories
At the end of each auction we produce a Project Summary Report for our clients. This document can be shared with internal stakeholders and includes an overview of the project, some auction insights, revenue raised, sustainability achievements and we also collect some buyer stories along the way.
Stuart from Grasmere Farm purchased a cold display counter from our auction at the College of North West London for use at Farmers Markets and County Shows.
Steve from YMCA Lakeside in the Lake District purchased two van loads of accommodation furniture from our Newton Rigg College auction and was happy to share his story with us to promote the reuse of equipment and assets.
