West Lancashire College engaged NCM Auctions to assist with the disposal of surplus assets as part of the college’s relocation of its Construction, Engineering and Logistics Centre from an off-campus location, to a new build facility on the main campus. NCM Auctions were helpful and responsive throughout the process and worked flexibly with the college to meet challenging deadlines.

NCM Auctions managed the entire process from initial site survey, lotting of items, listing and advertising of lots, corresponding with bidders, through to the management of collections on site. With NCM Auctions’ expertise, the returns for the college exceeded our expectations and we would certainly engage their assistance again should we need to dispose of any assets in the future.

BACKGROUND

West Lancashire College’s Construction, Engineering and Logistics Centre had to be relocated due to the redevelopment of another facility. Although a large proportion of their equipment was relocated by the college, NCM Auctions were employed for the sale of all surplus machinery and equipment which was no longer needed. The new facility could not host such a vast amount of equipment and it was, therefore, necessary for assets to be re-homed.

SITUATION

West Lancashire College’s surplus asset sale included Automotive Department equipment, tyre lifts, containers, commercial catering equipment, vehicles, milling machines, industrial sewing machines, woodworking machines, office and classroom ancillaries and more. A total of 456 lots were entered into the auction.

METHOD

NCM Auctions’ expertise with managing complex projects allowed for the smooth clearance of the former construction building which was set to be demolished.

Throughout the online auction, our Office Manager dealt with all buyer enquiries liaising effectively with WLC’s contact.

The Operations Team managed a highly complex, yet extremely positive, collection phase involving the coordination of a large number of buyers collecting systematically to ensure the swift removal of the surplus assets. We engaged in sales for all of the remaining unsold lots to ensure a maximum return for the college.

RESULT

NCM Auctions generated over £17k for West Lancashire College from the sale of its Construction Department alone! 90% of all surplus assets were purchased by our database of registered auction buyers.
