Case Study: West Lancashire College

Endorsements are a testament to the proficiency of a business and we want every business we work with to achieve success. Here is a detailed analysis of the work we carried out for one of our clients and how it helped their business.

Background

West Lancashire College's Construction, Engineering and Logistics Centre had to be relocated due to redeveloping another facility. Although a mass amount of equipment was relocated by the College NCM were employed for the sale of all surplus machinery and equipment which was no longer needed. The new facility could not host such a vast amount of equipment therefore it was necessary for assets to be re-homed.

Situation

West Lancashire College's surplus asset sale included Automotive Department Equipment, Tyre Lifts, Containers, Commercial Catering Equipment, Vehicles, Milling Machines, Industrial Sewing Machines, Woodworking Machines, Office & Classroom Ancillaries and more. The total amount of items entered in the sale was 456 lots!

Method

NCM's expertise with managing complex projects allowed for a smooth clearance of the former construction building set to be demolished.

Throughout the online auction, our Office Manager dealt with all buyer enquiries liaising effectively with WLC's contact.

The Operations Team managed a hectic, yet extremely positive, collection period. This involved a mass number of buyers collecting in an organised manner to ensure swift removal of surplus assets. We engaged in sales for all remaining unsold lots ensuring a maximum return for the college.

Result

NCM generated over £17k for West Lancashire College from the sale of its Construction Department alone! 90% of all assets surplus to requirement were purchased and cleared by happy, auction buyers.

“West Lancashire College engaged NCM to assist with the disposal of surplus assets as part of the college’s relocation of its Construction, Engineering and Logistics Centre from an off campus location, to a new build facility on the main campus. NCM were helpful and responsive throughout the process, and worked flexibly with the college to meet challenging deadlines.  NCM managed the entire process from initial site survey, lotting of items, listing and advertising of lots, corresponding with bidders, through to the management of collections on site. With NCM’s expertise, the returns for the college exceeded our expectations and we would certainly engage their assistance again should we need to dispose of any assets in the future.”
